It is no secret that Honda is redeveloping the latest Civic Type-R for the US market and the sports hatch won?t be available at least until next year. Today, a new piece of information is being passed around the web and it suggests that the US-bound model is going to be faster than ever.
The word is that the 2L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine has received a design upgrade which adds in an electric actuator on the wastegate as well as a bypass valve integrated into the compressor housing. In simpler terms, the performance of the engine will be boosted by a big margin.
A detuned state of the engine is tipped to make its debut on the next-gen Civic Si and details of it will be released at the next Geneva Motor Show. As for the Honda Civic Type-R, the vehicle is going to make its debut somewhere in 2017 and we can only wonder on the performance figures of the sports hatch.
